Beginning the Project - Last of the Electus

Welcome to the project page for "Last of the Electus."

"Last of the Electus" is an ambitious graphic novel project teaming veteran mystery author Lloyd L. Corricelli (Ronan Marino Mysteries) with rising artist Isiah Bradley (Deviant Art).

Their goal is to pitch the project to one of the smaller comic book companies (IDW, Dark Horse, Dynamite) who accept unsolicited projects or go the full independent route and publish on their own, both digitally and eventually in print. This will involve a Kickstarter effort that they hope you'll see worthy of investing in.

So just what is "Last of the Electus" about? Think "Gladiator," "Spartacus" and the "X-Men" all rolled up into one. Here's the official synopsis:

"Navy SEAL Commander Peter Redwood was the leader of The Electus (Latin for Chosen), an international team of genetically enhanced soldiers created in the early twenty-first century to defeat a growing supernatural threat. With their enhanced strength, speed and telekinetic powers, they could stand toe to toe with even the strongest of mystical foes. 

In 2015, the vampire Mormo, from Greek mythology, and her hordes seized control of the Baltic nations; slaughtering millions and turning those countries into their own private playground. The Electus were sent into action, winning the decisive Battle of Riga and sending the vampires back into the shadows. They pay a huge price however; only sixteen Electus are left standing at the battle's end.

The survivors are hailed as saviors across the globe; but just as they build heroes up, the public loves to tear them down. After a series of well publicized criminal allegations against members of The Electus, mankind began to fear their incredible powers and turned on their champions. One by one, they were hunted down and murdered, leaving only their leader. Escaping two assassination attempts, Redwood, with his wife and son, managed to elude authorities for over a year until he was finally ambushed and taken into custody by a black ops team with a hidden agenda.  

Twenty-five years later he awakes from cryogenic slumber to find that Discordia, the evil Greek goddess of chaos and her supernatural legions now control all of North America and threaten the world with holocaust if any attempt is made to try and take back the continent. Forced to fight in a gladiatorial game against centaurs, minotaurs and other mythological creatures, Redwood escapes and meets up with the rebel forces trying to topple Discordia’s reign. 

Distrustful of humanity, hunted by the forces of darkness and desperate to learn the fate of his family, Peter Redwood is the…the Last of the Electus." 

To date, Lloyd has completed the script for book one and is working on book two. Meanwhile Isiah works on the character designs and will be starting to draw book one soon.

Next post, we'll look at some new designs, including the main villain Discordia, and get some background information on the mythology of the story as well as a progress update.
